Air Swimmers Amaze Everyone!

Everyone who sees Air Swimmers is quite literally amazed, whether they’re seeing it in person or in someone’s online video.

If you can picture a fish swimming in a tank of water, but without the tank of water, then you get the idea. They really do look just like a fish out of water–except in this case, they’re swimming in thin air.

The colorful designs of these fascinating, unique and ultimately entertaining new toy appear both realistic and classically stylized.Air Swimmers Clownfish and Shark

These are sort of part toy and part science project–although entertaining, they also provide education about how a real fish moves in water. You only have to look at them to see that their actions mimic those of an actual fish very well.

So just how do they work? Well, you could think of them sort of like a blimp. Essentially, these are a rigid skeleton covered with a thin but strong mylar outer shell. When filled with helium, they function as lighter than air.

The rear of them consists of a small electric motor and a tailfin section that serves to steer these miniature aircraft through the air.

An infrared remote control operates the fin in the back, propelling it through the air according to your input. These are pretty durable toy, mostly bouncing off of blunt objects as well as those that aren’t an out and out point. They do come with complete instructions on how to repair them as well as a small repair kit should yours run into something which damages it.

Because they are filled with helium, they are able to float through the air–and they will stay afloat for several weeks, given that they’re not damaged, before needing to be refilled with helium. Any party store can supply you with a tank of helium which should last you quite some time.

You will need to make sure you stock up on some batteries to keep yours on the go. You’ll need a total of 4 AAA batteries–3 of them are for the infrared remote and one is for the Air Swimmers itself.

These superduper awesome toys come in two main flavors:

Air Swimmers Clownfish

If you’ve seen the Disney movie Finding Nemo, then you know what this one looks like. The markings on this are faithful to both the movie and real life.

Here’s a quick video of it in action:

Air Swimmers Shark

Remember the theme from Jaws? That’s exactly what will pop into the minds of people who 1st see this guy swimming through the air towards them.

Beware, you too may have the theme stuck in your head after watching this video:

There are a few precautions to be taken when using these toys and they are as follows:

these are best used indoors–the brightness of the sun can overwhelm the infrared remote
although the outer skin is durable, you do have to be careful what you bump into–this means no flying it near ceiling fans and other hazards
be sure to share with others–everyone will want to turn guiding your Air Swimmers around the room

These are a lot of fun at birthday parties, as well as dinners out and workplace shenanigans. You might even take yours out to the mall or to a hospital were either someone you know or someone you don’t know can get a laugh, be amazed and have their day brightened up just a little bit.

If you’re hosting a birthday party, use your Air Swimmers to entertain the crowd and to play a quick game of tag as well.

If you have 2 of these, you can even have races to see who’s fastest and most skilled at steering it around.

It’s worth noting that these are intended for children in the 8 to 10 year old range–even so, it’s a good idea to supervise any young child who uses one of these to make sure they understand how to use it and understand that it can be damaged if they are not careful.

Got a boring office meeting coming up? Liven it up a bit by flying your shark or clown fish into the meeting.

If you think I’m a little bit nutty, you might be right, but check out the reactions of people who see one of these for the 1st time:
